About Us
Cynthia Black is an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). She has been in the interior design field for over twenty years, and opened her own business in 1993 in the San Francisco Bay area. She currently works in both Northern California and Hawaii, enjoying the diversification of applying all styles, including Country French, Asian, American Country, Streamlined, Eclectic and Tropical styles.
Cynthia believes that more than anything, designing a space with her clients should be FUN, and that a big part of her job is to keep the client out of “overwhelm,” so they can enjoy the process. Working with a designer is much more than choosing the perfect fabric; it's about forging a relationship of mutual trust. Cynthia and her team seek to establish a friendly, open relationship with every client, with the end result being a warm, welcoming space which reflects its owner's dreams.
Cynthia and her team provide Full-Service Design Services , including Project-Management, for those clients looking for a traditional approach to Interior Design, and will work closely with the client to make the home of their dreams a reality.
A pioneer in the Re-Design and One-Day Makeover areas of design, Cynthia has to date "Redesigned” over 500 homes for satisfied clients. Her clients respond so well to this “Using What You Have" strategy that they often call her back when they move and ask her to design their new homes.
Cynthia also was on the cutting edge of the beginning Staging Homes for Resale arena for the real estate market, working her magic with many Realtors on every home they listed. Sereta Churchill, owner/broker of Century 21 Heritage Fine Homes and Estates in Lafayette, California says: “It is difficult to make suggestions on preparing for market without alienating the client. My clients have always been fans of Cynthia and the process. Her attention to detail is wonderful, and the end result is always something that makes a home sell quickly and for more money. Cynthia is the best designer/stager that I have ever worked with in the 30 years I have sold real estate.”
A natural by-product of helping overwhelmed homeowners came about when they began asking Cynthia to help them organize their Home Offices as well as design them. She is a Professional Organizer, helping busy executives and homeowners alike. Cynthia is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers. (NAPO).
Believing that the best compliment anyone can pay to her work is the statement “This feels so warm and welcoming!” Cynthia strives to put that stamp on every project she takes on, helping clients to express who they are in the context of their surroundings, no matter how large or small. Her favorite tool is to use the power of color in new ways, and to get “color-phobes” to venture into this fun arena.
The connection of Structure to Site and the Outdoors to the Indoors has always been a hallmark for Cynthia. She worked closely with a developer of custom high-end homes with water views in the San Francisco Bay area, designing the homes herself from the blueprint stage. Through the addition of architectural detailing and siting the views, these homes were in demand, often selling before they were built.
Cynthia believes that because everyone's Style is unique, there is a unique Style for everyone, be it sophisticated, whimsical, homey or streamlined.
